Check Out The Nostr Protocol
I’m really bullish on this new nostr protocol. NOSTR:
The simplest open protocol that is able to create a censorship-resistant global “social” network once and for all.
It doesn’t rely on any trusted central server, hence it is resilient; it is based on cryptographic keys and signatures, so it is tamperproof; it does not rely on P2P techniques, therefore it works.
While nostr requires some technical acumen to use today, I hope more UX/UI folks jump in and help out this innovative new protocol.
To get started, I recommend Astral.Ninja as the most frictionless way to generate a key pair, and begin using it.
Anyone can go to Damus Web for a world view, or to give you a unique idea around things this protocol offers that others don’t, you can go to Damus webv2 and enter my public key (or anyone’s) af30bf9b7c8843a1f323699a8320a879dfee4b17512696fec39969db284af14a to see my view! (you’d need my private key to post as me). Also, if you’re trying astral.ninja, feel free to search and add for me using the above public key!
I would also add my friend Will 32e1827635450ebb3c5a7d12c1f8e7b2b514439ac10a67eef3d9fd9c5c68e245 who is actively developing in the space and sharing his updated.
Here’s where you can jump in if you really want to nerd out: NOSTR protocol github read me
If you just want to jump in and use it, head over to the Clients section of the Awesome nostr list
Again, most of these applications require technical prowess to install and use, and are basic functioning at best as of writing this.
If you’re a protocol nerd, follow the NIPS
The talent level of people working on this protocol and related applications is very impressive, as well as the potential for this protocol, it’s worth paying attention to.
