Announcing: Vancouver Island Mini Maker Faire, and the Call for Makers

less than 1 minute read

I had the opportunity to attend Vancouver's Mini Maker Faire last year, respresenting Victoria's makerspace, where we used our CO2 laser to etch people's names into dog tags; adults and children alike. You can see an excellent summary video on vimeo:

(You can spot me hard at work ~0:58 and more seriously at the 2:20 spot.)

A couple of us were so excited about the event, we contacted O'Reilly and Make to see what it would take to get a licence to operate one. After a lot of background discussions, I'm super excited to announce that this July 28th and 29th will be the official Vancouver Island Mini Maker Faire at the Panorama Rec Centre. Put it on your calendar!

Along with the announcement of the event, we've also issued a call for makers. If you make, hack, art, or craft, you should request a table for this hands-on, all ages event! We're anticipating makers from all over the Pacific NorthWest, including Seattle and Vancouver! Early-bird applications are due by May 15th, don't miss it!
