I'm fairly opinionated on political issues. As such, I've decided to create a page of policies I would stand for as a political leader in Canada. My campaign platform, if you will (I'm not running):

 

Electoral Reform

By far the biggest issue today is with the voting system of first past the post (FPTP). I would move to bring in voting with proportional representation.

 

Legalize all drugs

We already legalize coffee, tobacco and alcohol, I would legalize all other drugs. There is no rational reason why we've not done this already. Prohibition only puts the profits, and the safety/health concerns into the hands of the underground economy. This makes the situation worse not only for the users, but for all of society.

Instead I would regulate the process to purchase drugs, and I would require a significant portion of this new income from taxation on mental health research. Why are we as North Americans so prone to addiction to certain drugs?
